Exhibition duration: 05 - 31 May 2023
In May, the Staatsbad event series ArtSoundEnjoyment into the next round. This time, the painter will spend the entire month Jakob Lang works in the Wandelhalle at the Royal Spa Garden.
"Nature is my greatest teacher. I want to use art to create a mirror that makes life visible, even tangible and alive. I combine the most diverse aspects: Light, nature, colours, patterns, temperature, feelings, people. My paintings capture experiences of nature and bring them to the canvas. The paintings calm, uplift and strengthen," says Jakob Lang. And they show his own connection to the Berchtesgaden region and his homeland. The 37-year-old has a 230 square metre light-flooded loft studio in Oberteisendorf.
Jakob Lang works with oil paints, not with brushes, but primarily with a squeegee and palette knife. They are like his third hand, he says, and ideal for expressing his view of life and making it accessible with an objectless way of painting.
Jakob Lang has selected 26 works of art for the exhibition in the Wandelhalle in the Royal Spa Garden in Bad Reichenhall. In addition to 12 oil paintings, there are also eleven ink drawings, a glass motif weighing around 18 kilograms and two art objects. The works bear names such as "Heaven in my heart - eternity", "Full of joy", "Held" and "View". The artist has given the motto of all the works the title: Home, Light and Life. "I create the living, visions and the personal, tell of the good, visualise what is possible and the wonderful things that exist."
Different facets of art
Jakob Lang likes the elongated Wandelhalle as an exhibition space, the large windows and the resulting light situations, and the magnificent flowerbeds of the Königliches Kurhaus in front of it, which form a link to his work. It is a special room, just like the concert rotunda with its column-supporting dome, which is decorated with ceiling medallions.
The Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic Orchestra will perform in the Rotunda following the vernissage on 4 May from 7.30 pm. The programme includes the symphony concert #13 with Ludwig van Beethoven's The Creatures of Prometheus: Overture, op. 43, Franz Anton Hoffmeister's Concerto for Viola and Orchestra in D major and Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 6 in C major. The soloist is Céline Eberhardt on the viola. The concert will be conducted by the conducting class of the Munich University of Applied Sciences.
Art with sound and pleasure
The Wandelhalle and the concert rotunda in the Royal Spa Garden have always been places of encounter and culture. Spa concerts are held in the rotunda throughout the week, except on Mondays. The light-flooded, stylish Wandelhalle is home to the AlpenSole fountain, the modernised Staatsbad Shop and the new WandelBar. The Wandelhalle also offers a wonderful view of and direct access to the extensive gardens. "We launched the KunstKlangGenuss event series last autumn to further revitalise the Wandelhalle and create added value for guests. Three times a year, we bring together visual artists and the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic Orchestra for one month at a time. Refreshments are offered at the WandelBar before and after the concerts," explains Dirk Sasse, Managing Director of Bayer. Staatsbad Bad Reichenhall/Bayer. Gmain GmbH. The Wandelhalle is open daily from nine to 21.30 from April to the end of October. Jakob Lang's exhibition is also freely accessible during these times throughout May.
